Recapping the SALT x MMP Demo Day in Brunswick, ME.

Saturday the 22nd started off with gray overcast skies looming over the Pegasus courts in Brunswick. Not the weather you would pick for an outdoor event, but that didn't seem to matter one bit.
Every court at Pegasus had a game on it by mid-morning, with people waiting on the fence for one to open up. Even though the paddle queue was over a dozen paddles long at times, MMP kept things moving like a well-oiled machine. That is a Mid Coast Maine Pickleball thing more than it is a SALT thing. We brought some pegboard displays, a rack of demo paddles, a folding table and a handheld printer. MMP brought everybody else.
Stamping
If you bought a C-605 in the presale, it shipped before USA Pickleball was done with it. The paddle was already certified. The face just did not say so. We covered why that happens before the event, so we will not do it again here.
We tested the limits of our little paddle printer, and managed to tattoo USAP's approval on any pre-sold C-605s that came across our table. Most people were back on a court before the ink set, which was the idea.
Demos
The demo rack is what kept the table busy. Watching somebody hit a paddle cold tells you more than any spec sheet. The comment we heard most was some version of surprise at how comfortable and controlled the C-605 is to play with. People pick up an elongated thermoformed paddle expecting a hammer, which the C-605 is not. Whether that works for you depends on how you play, which was the whole reason for this event in the first place. If you missed it and you still want to swing one, we keep a list of where to demo SALT paddles around southern Maine.
This was MMP's day
Mid Coast Maine Pickleball is the biggest club in the Brunswick area and they ran Saturday like they have done it before, because they have. Their members filled the courts. We did not have to do anything to make that happen.
We owe a huge thanks to John Coray, MMP's president. He said yes to this in about seven minutes back in July and then put it in front of his club simply because he wants to support a local Maine pickleball company. The day does not happen without him, and the whole MMP crew.
What is next
We said before the event that Pegasus was the first stamping stop and not the only one. That still holds. Next up is Wicked Pickle's 4th annual End of Summer Daze tournament, the weekend of September 12. SALT's John Ruppert will be teaming up with Josh Leighton. Josh, a methodical & strategic court tactician, will be playing to win; while John is more of a "make it through the weekend injury-free without bringing shame to the family name" kind of player. Should be a pretty interesting competition to catch, if you're in the Portland area that weekend. The printer comes too, so if you need a stamp, we'll also have someone onsite to hook you up.
There is also a charity tournament coming together at the HNPEA courts in Harpswell in early October. No date yet.
And next week we are going back inside for a second round with the pickleball group at the Maine State Prison. Pickleball behind steel doors is the background on the first visit. We will write up the second one afterward.

I bought a presale C-605 and missed the Pegasus event. Can I still get it stamped?
Yes. There will be more stamping dates and we are working on venues now. Email info@saltpickleball.com and we will tell you where and when.
Does my paddle need the stamp to be legal?
For casual play, no. Your presale C-605 was USA Pickleball approved on June 10, 2026, and it is the same paddle either way. For sanctioned tournament play, the stamp is what an official looks for at check-in. If you compete, get it stamped.
Where can I try a C-605 if I am not near Brunswick?
We keep a list of demo locations around southern Maine. If your club is not on it and should be, tell us.

When is the next stamping event?
The Wicked Pickle's End of Summer Daze tournament, the weekend of September 12. We will have the printer with us. After that, the HNPEA charity tournament in Harpswell in early October, no date set. Email info@saltpickleball.com and you will not have to watch for it.
Is the C-605 actually USA Pickleball approved, or is this a certification technicality?
Approved. It passed on June 10, 2026 with a PBCoR of 0.41 and a COF of 0.117, no deviations. We wrote it up when it happened: Our C-605 is officially official.
Can I bring a paddle that is not a SALT paddle to get stamped?
No. We can only stamp our own, and only ones that shipped before approval landed.
